May 2010- Dvorak Mass in D, Bury Choral Society, Bury Parish Church
An imaginative pairing of relatively unknown works by Dvorak and Elgar was performed by Bury Choral Society in the final concert of their current season in the lofty surroundings of Bury Parish Church.[ ....]
The main work was Dvorak’s Mass in D. It was performed in the original version with organ accompaniment and Ronald Frost was resplendent in the role conjuring magical sounds from the newly refurbished instrument. Aided by soloists Margaret Ferguson, Sarah Cox, Christopher Steele and Andrew Heggie the re-vitalised Choral Society under the dynamic direction of Sinead Hayes delivered a performance that ranged from hushed reverence in the Benedictus to the stark drama of the Crucifixion in the Credo. Their incisive entries, wide dynamic range and thorough commitment produced a telling and involving performance.

Dvorak’s folk inspired setting of ‘Ev’ning bells ring’ was a delightful curtain raiser for this evening of discovery and very enjoyable music making.

December 2009 – Handel Messiah - Bury Choral Society, Bury Parish Church.
‘Sinead Hayes, recently placed in charge of Bury Choral Society, did just that and made an immediate mark. She must be a delight to sing with, as she clearly delights in her role, guiding chorus and orchestra as much with bodily inclination, glance and smile as with the baton. Under her direction the chorus did not disappoint in this most taxing of works…..At all other times the chorus was tight, tidy and well in control. The mark of good choral singing – unaccompanied pianissimo entrances – was wonderfully executed at the beginning of “Since by man came death.” ‘

March 2008 – Sibelius: Finlandia – Dulwich Symphony Orchestra, All Saints Church, Lovelace Road, London
‘the piece [Finlandia] got a terrific performance, headed up by the DSO’s guest conductor Sinead Hayes. The sonorities were amply provided by the ‘heavy brass’, and then by the massed string section, in super-rich mode.’

July 2007 – Prokofiev: Symphony No. 7 – I Maestri Orchestra, St. John’s Smith Square, London
‘That a conductor can make a real difference had been shown by Väisänen, and was again by Sinead Hayes (from Galway). [...]she drew a response from the players that had one listening. Hayes conducted the first two movements; she was alive to the nostalgia and regret that is present in both as well as bringing out the composer’s characteristic spiky harmony and scoring; the corners of the second, waltz-like, movement gracefully turned[...]’
